Professional & Contextual Practice

Tate Modern, London.
October 2012

For my Contextual & Professional Studies Unit at college we look into the business side of Art. Looking at Promotions and Marketing. So far we have looked into cash flow, and given a basic idea of how much money it would cost to start and build our own gallery. Our next deadline is to create a case study based on an Art Gallery of our choice. So far i have visited two Art Galleries for Primary Research for the Case Study.
Whilst in London in October I took the chance of visiting the Tate Modern Gallery. I found the artwork in the gallery very strange compared to others I have seen and not really to my taste. Most of the work was digitally made with video and audio rooms.

Manchester City Art Gallery
November 2012
Today I visited the Manchester City Art Gallery with college as part of the research task for the case study we have been given. We went to see an exhibition called 'The first cut' which is an exhibition based on paper manipulation.

I really enjoyed this exhibition and found it fascinating. Everything was created out of paper including a small forest and a motorbike. The time and effort put into these pieces is unbelievable and very inspiring. My favourite has to be the paper made motorbike.
