For my recent college project I have been asked to find and create my own commission for a chosen client. My commission is for Stepping Hill Hospital Maternity Unit. I have been asked by my client to create several photography pieces for the Delivery Suite in the maternity unit. The photography work is going to be landscape based, to create a calming and peaceful feeling whilst in the environment of the Hospital. I intend to visit a few places in the Stockport area to take my photographs. I will keep these up to date on my blog.

Poynton Pool
8th November 2012
Today I visited Poynton Pool as this was an idea my client and I had agreed. The weather was cold and the sky very dull and cloudy, not the best day to be taking photographs but i wanted to make a start on the practical side of this project. As i walked around the pool I found the more interesting compositions were on the opposite side, the pool created gorgeous reflections of the trees and leaves from around the pool and created really nice colours. When I got back to college I used Photoshop to edit and brighten up my photographs, using warming photo filters which i think have worked really well and have brought out the colours in the photos really nicely.

Poynton Pool

Today was my second trip to Poynton Pool, i was hoping for clearer weather today and the sun came out for a little while! I concentrated on capturing the different colours in the trees today as i focused a lot of reflections last time. I am happy with these photographs as the sunshine meant the warm colours shone and stood out, looking brighter and more prominent than usual. I also managed to capture one nice reflection photograph before the sun decided to go in for the day!

Today was a gorgeous clear day so i decided to take a trip to Lyme Park in Disley. These photographs are my favourite so far. I really like the compositions and colours captured today. I took photos of the park in general, the cage, the house & the pencil. From previous chats I know my client loves photos in Black & White and Sepia so I played around with these settings on my camera. I really like the Sepia effect myself, although I found it only works and is affective with certain photographs and compositions. I especially like the photographs of the cage, the colours in the sky are lovely and you can see over Stockport in the distance.

Monday 21st January
Today I thought I would take full advantage of the snow and take a trip to my local canal (at the end of my road!) for another part of my commission. I felt like i was in a winter wonderland, everywhere was completely covered and the canal was iced over, apart from certain parts which captured a nice reflection of the trees. I really really like these photographs.
